Survey Launch
Our survey is ready and waiting to be launched on 6 October!
In New Zealand, DHB Registered and Enrolled Nurses make up approximately 40% of nurses, making them the largest professional group in the healthcare workforce. However, surprisingly little is known about the work schedules of New Zealand nurses or about work-related causes of fatigue. The survey aims to evaluate which aspects of work patterns are associated with fatigue-related outcomes and learn more about nurses' experiences of fatigue. We will use the survey results to develop tools to manage fatigue in New Zealand hospitals.
All Registered and Enrolled Nurses working at least 30 hours per week in a DHB, in 6 practice areas that have a high risk of fatigue are invited to complete the survey. These are: child health including neonatology, cardiac care/intensive care, emergency and trauma, in-patient mental health, medical, and surgical. If you're a NZNO member, you will receive an email invitation to complete the survey when it's launched. If you're not a member, you can still participate. Click here to access the survey.
We are very excited about launching this ground-breaking project and working together with all sectors of the nursing community to improve both patient safety, and the health, quality of life and retention of nurses.
